Raman spectroscopy of Co„OH...2 at high pressures: Implications for amorphization and hydrogen repulsion
Raman spectra of cobalt hydroxide Co(OH)2 were recorded to 31 GPa using a diamond anvil cell. In contrast to a previous infrared ~IR! spectroscopic study, our Raman data show no sharp change in the O-H stretch peak width near 11 GPa, ruling out the possibility of abrupt hydrogen sublattice amorphization at this pressure. This is consistent with neutron diffraction data for Co(OD)2 to 16 GPa whi...

Acoustic Determination of Methane Hydrate Dissociation Pressures
The unique nature of the molecular structures of gas hydrates results in curious acoustic properties which have yet to be adequately characterized. Understanding the acoustic behavior of hydrates in liquids, in bubbly liquids, and in sediments containing liquids and/or gas is vital for surveying their location using seismic or echosounding techniques and may become a key tool for monitoring hyd...

according to research, academic self-concept and academic achievement are mutually interdependent. in the present study, the aim was to determine the relationship between the academic self-concept and the academic achievement of students in english as a foreign language and general subjects. the participants were 320 students studying in 4th grade of high school in three cities of noor, nowshah...
Dissociation of CH4 at high pressures and temperatures: diamond formation in giant planet interiors?
Experiments using laser-heated diamond anvil cells show that methane (CH4) breaks down to form diamond at pressures between 10 and 50 gigapascals and temperatures of about 2000 to 3000 kelvin. Infrared absorption and Raman spectroscopy, along with x-ray diffraction, indicate the presence of polymeric hydrocarbons in addition to the diamond, which is in agreement with theoretical predictions. Di...
